I have a dream that one day I can travel twice a year, six months at a time. As a matter of fact, as of 2018, I do! I’ll explain to you what I mean…
I grew up in a small, conservative town in Central California. Growing up I didn’t have much experience with travel. The day trips we took to the beach or Los Angeles don’t count as traveling in my book. I always had a desire to explore, to see new places, and to learn. But I didn’t know where to start. And I certainly didn’t foresee me starting a healthy TRAVEL BLOG!
I graduated college at the age of 22. I had just finished the vigorous and mentally demanding world of nursing school and knew I needed a break! Having enrolled in college right out of high school I hadn’t truly seen the world or experienced life outside my hometown. I decided to pack up my newly acquired bachelor’s degree and travel around Europe before entering the working life.
I went all over- from Ireland to Spain, France to Italy, Belgium to Monaco. I learned the world is a much bigger place than I had imagined and there is so much in it to explore! I caught the bug- the travel bug.
I used to think I wanted to take my degree and get a great job with it. I thought I wanted to get a lot of promotions at work and get married and have a family with a big, fancy house…but now all I want to do is eat new foods and learn new languages and meet new people and get a tan and buy a one-way ticket and travel the world with it!
I am still a registered nurse- a travel nurse. I don’t have a permanent home address; I choose where I want to work and when. Because of this, my dream of traveling full-time while still preserving my passion in the study of medicine has become a reality.
One thing I realized when I started travel nursing was how hard it was to stick to a solid routine. Moving around to different places constantly while fun u0026amp; exciting was also both mentally and physically exhausting. I was eating out A LOT. I was falling into a very sedentary lifestyle. My sleeping pattern sucked. My mental health started deteriorating…
I learned the skills necessary to keep a healthy lifestyle while traveling the world! My medical background along with my traveling skills helped me to implement the steps necessary to keeping a healthy, on-the-go lifestyle!
